AS Airdrie 2-1 Shawbridge

Airdrie cemented a top half finish thanks to a home win at Airdrie sports centre.

Airdrie faced the strong wind in the second half hwich saw Shaws have more of the ball. Early exchanges saw Gray have an early effort blocked and Rowan pull off a cracking stop from a free header. It took until the 35th minute for Airdrie to take the lead Clark battled for the ball on the edge of the box before muscling his way through on goal, the keeper blocked the shot but there was enough on it to get over the line.

Second half with the wind behind them Airdrie just needed to get another goal, a few half chances with Kenny Pardoe going close the better of them. Airdrie finally got the second goal from kenny pardoe's corner kick Cooper rose highest to head toward goal but was blocked away but the big defender was first to react and looped the ball back into the danger area, Brady and a defender wrestled to get the ball and it dropped in over the line, ne for the dubious goals panel but Cooper graciously gave it to Brady. That should have been that but within seconds of coming on Capaldi gave away a penalty and Shawbridge pulled it back to 2-1. Airdrie then shoukld have scored more as gaps appeared all over the park Brady scooped an effort over the bar with only the keeper to beat, then a stonewall penalty was turned down after capaldi's shot was cleared of the line by an arm. Finally Shaw should have joined Pardoe on 18 goals as he raced through but the keeper got hands on the ball as he tried to round him.

An end of season affair neither side reallly got going to there full but Airdrie did enough to take the points. One game to go now as we host SCYP next saturday
