St Marys 4-1 AS Airdrie

Airdrie suffered a heavy away loss to a good St Marys team. After an even first half which ended 0-0 the game was turned on it's head when a spot kick was awarded to the home side. It was of the very soft variety but to be fair i've seen them given and seen them waved away. Rowan just catching the forward as he tried to get on the end of the ball which was heading out of play. The kick was duly despatched and gave the home side a huge lift. Soon after they added a second, the striker going clear and as Rowan was caught in no mans land he easily lobbed it into an empty net. The third was again of our own making, Cooper failing to step up let 2 or 3 S Marys players run in on goal and Rowan was beaten with a low drive. Scott Lindsay pulled a goal back late on with a fine run in fronm the left and hammered a right footed drive into the bottom corner. Brady had a wee half chance to pull another back but hesitated to allow the home defence to clear. St Marys added a bit of gloss to there win with a fourth, loose play from airdrie surrendered possesion to the pacey frontman and as he raced in on goal Smith made a desperate challenge but only got a toe to the ball which wasn't enough to affect the striker drilling past Rowan from a tight angle. Amazingly Smith was then ordered off the referee deeming his tackle to be a lunge and worthy of a second yellow, hopefully this is reviewed as we could do without loosing our captain as we look to turn the form around which wont be easy with a trip to Greenhills looming this weekend.
