Shawbridge 1 AS Airdrie 0

airdrie fell to their second league defeat in 2 weeks when a mark dyer header after 20 mins was the difference in a tight contest where chances were few and far between.

once again neilly was left with 12 players and two of them struggling with the flu.with this in mind airdrie reverted to a more solid looking 4-4-2.

a first half that was pretty even for the best part.both teams looked pretty comfortable at the back and chances were slim.shaws took the lead when a long throw was headered into the box for dyer to head home after 20 mins.for the rest of the half it was a tight battle and both keepers had little to do.

second half was pretty similar to the first with chances again scarce.both teams tried to push forward but again defence was on top and only a couple of half chances for either side.shaws nearly made it 2 when a good move down the left saw a header flash narrowly wide with 20 to go.cooper then went on for the injured scott and from a cross from the right his header forced the save of the game from the shaws keeper.with under 10 to go gray finally had his chance but his left foot drive scraped the bar.the final ten saw airdrie push for an equaliser but shaws held out well for the victory.

another narrow league defeat for airdrie in a game where one could argue they deserved a point at least.with a back 4 of leishman, scott s graham and pardoe it was a credit that shawbridge didn,t create too much especially with airdrie lacking any height in their team.with both pardoe and shaw struggling with the flu it was a credible performance all things considered.but as i said last week we need as many of our players available when we are playing the better teams.with tynecastle and blochairn at home and nc utd away in our next 3 league games we are going to need everyone available if we are too sustain a challenge at the top end of the league
