The points were shared in the Airdrie derby with a Scott Graham equaliser after 30 minutes earning Airdrie another away point to go with their point picked up last week at windlaw.

A scrappy game with lots of effort and commitment but little in the way of passing and quality. The home team had the best of the chances but rowan dealt with them relatively easily although he had a fine stop in the first half and although Airdrie created few opportunities their battling commitment earned them a point.

Airdrieonians took the lead midway through the first half when a ball over the top caught the defence out and the winger hit a fine strike into the bottom corner of Rowan's goal, However Airdrie battled back and from a long Clark throw in Airdrieonians failed to deal with the ball and after Cooper's initial header which was cleared off the line Scott Graham was on the right spot to tap home from a yard out. Neil Grant had the chance to grab all 3 points in the closing minutes but failed to get on the end of Clark's cross ball.

Best for Airdrie today was Edgar, who had a fine game in midfield, Ross Graham at the back who was solid for the best part and Stewart who had a very fine second half.

From a passing point of view and creating chances not a lot to take out of today’s game but again the effort and commitment which was on display last week was there again and another away point picked up against a fired up home team who battled the champions for the best part of their game last week. The manager’s will be pleased to see 15 players to choose from and although sonic and mark didn’t get on they gave Neil and Humo options if required. The team is still trying to find the right balance but on the first two games the defence looks pretty solid with the new signings. The one concern from today’s game was the lack of support from the wide areas to the front. Defensively fine but maybe get forward in attacking areas a bit more to support the strikers and stretch opposing defences. Something for the management to work on perhaps. But two hard away games and any team will get a hard game against Airdrieonians who, on the basis of last week and today, should survive their first year in the top league no problem. Next for Airdrie a hard cup tie at home to Tynecastle next Thursday (30th) at Airdrie sports centre.
