Sunderland 'keeper and Scottish International Craig Gordon will miss the first 2 months of the season after breaking his arm in training.

Gordon broke his arm during a game with Tottenham last season in a challenge with Jermain Defoe and required metal plating to help heal the fracture.

Gordon had the plate removed as well as a series of operations on his arm (and a hernia) during the off season.

It is reported that Gordon fell awkwardly in training breaking his arm, we're not sure if it is the same arm that was broken by Defoe or if it's the other.

Gordon has had minor surgery on the injury and will be out for 2-3 months.

Bruce now needs to decide whether he will play new boy Simon Mignolet, youngster Trevor Carson, hang on to Marton Fulop or bring in another keeper, such as David James.

To me it seems only logical that Bruce plays Mignolet, otherwise what was the point of buying him?
