As the transfer window slammed shut for clubs all over Europe there was little surprise to fans that no deadline day signings were made at Gresty Road. There is now a further window to sign players unattached to clubs meaning Dario Gradi will now only be able to strengthen the squad through free transfers.
As the transfer window slammed shut no new signings were made by The Alex on deadline day. However, there is now a further window to sign players still to find a club.
Fans will be looking to Dario to strengthen the squad further with a full back as top priority. Matt Tootle's recent injury, thought to keep the promising defender out for up to four weeks, has exposed Gradi's thread bare squad.
Former loanee Stephen Wright is seen by many as the perfect candidate, with experience of Premiership football with Liverpool and Sunderland, although a natural full back is able to operate anywhere across the back four.
Wright's versatility and obvious pedigree should be enough to convince Dario to bring Wright to Gresty Road with wages (as always!) being the only obstacle.
Is Wright the man for the job or are there other better suited players available on free transfers? Have your say on the forum now.
