The Daily Star has today linked the Dons with an unlikely move for Bristol Rovers striker Rickie Lambert, with Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town also supposedly interested. Lambert is League One's top scorer with 25 league goals this season.
We can dream, but the story does seem like a space filler, with the Dons unlikely to have anything near £1m available to spend on a single player this summer, or, for that matter, at all. Palace are in a similar position and limited funds for new signings have seen them look to the lower divisions for potential targets, with Mark Wright trialling at the London club recently.
Ipswich are enjoying the funds of new owner Marcus Evans but as they push for a spot in the Premier League a move for a striker unproven at a level higher than League One again seems unlikely.
In January it was reported that Bristol Rovers had accepted a £750,000 bid from Huddersfield for Lambert, but that move did not go through.
