Paul Ince's last signing before his departure for Blackburn, Peter has slotted seamlessly into the Dons midfield and has proved a more than adequate replacement for outgoing captain Keith Andrews.

Like Andrews, Leven keeps the Dons ticking over with a wonderful range of passing and also an eye for goal, from distance or in the penalty area. With a left foot matched by few, if any, in the division, he is also capable of whipping in some superb crosses and corners.

Dons might have been left with another summer spent trying to replace their midfield talisman as Leven signed only a one-year deal, but to the relief of many committed to an extra two years shortly after New Year in 2009, by which time he had bagged seven league goals despite often having to play through niggling injuries.
