Hull City reserves lost again on Wednesday night. This time going down 2-1 to Sunderland . The Tigers once again reverted to a relatively inexperienced line up with only Doyle, John Welsh and Nicky Featherstone having any first team experience for City. Sunderland took the lead in the 34th minute through David Dowson who converted from a Luscombe cross. Sunderland doubled their lead on 82 minutes through Kavanagh who drilled in the rebound after Oxley produced another good save to deny Dowson. Hull did pull 1 back in the 86th minute through a doyle penalty but it was too little too late

Sunderland: Nick Colgan, Michael Kay, Michael Liddle, Graham Kavanagh, Niall McArdle, Peter Hartley, Jordan Henderson, David Meyler (Jamie Chandler 87), David Dowson (Rade Prica 87), Jack Colback, Nathan Luscombe (Jordan Cook 72).

Subs not used: Michal Misiewicz, David Brown.
