Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed plans to rest teenage sensation Cristiano Ronaldo at one point during the season in order to avoid burn-out. Ronaldo endured a very eventful summer by representing his country Portugal in both Euro 2004 and the Olympics and may now be at risk of a potential injury. Hobbs in Trouble

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed plans to rest teenage sensation Cristiano Ronaldo at one point during the season in order to avoid burn-out.

Ronaldo, who will receive similar treatment that Ryan Giggs received when he was a maturing player, endured a very eventful summer by representing his country Portugal not only during a successful Euro 2004 campaign, but also played in the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

The 19-year old has only missed 3 out of 19 games so far this season for The Red Devils and, considering the winger's age, is in potential risk of injury.

Ferguson exposed: "There is going to be a spell when Cristiano Ronaldo needs a rest"

"It is a question of picking the moment. Last year we sent him home for a break at Christmas and we'll have to see what we do this time. At the moment I have no definite plans for him. I think he is OK just now but we will be assessing him all the time."
