The 21-year-old has not yet made his first team bow in the United shirt, but made three appearances on-loan for Peterborough United earlier in the season, and scored one goal.

"I don't know what the future holds for me at United, so I am more than happy to come here and get some games under my belt." said Wood.

"My contract is up at Old Trafford in the summer and I might have to look elsewhere because nothing has been said about a new deal.

"There are good players ahead of me at United and going out on loan will help me to get experience."

Wood is a youngster with bags of potential, but with the illustrious squad at Old Trafford and the high quality youth players all looking for a place in the first-team, he has found it difficult to get into contention for a run-out in the first-team.

The forward has attracted interest from a number of clubs, but is delighted at moving to Burnley and is determined to help the club move away from the First Division relegation zone after a disappointing first-half of the season from the Clarets.

"Stan Ternent pursued the deal and I am delighted to be here. I had been looking to go out on loan for a while and a few second Division sides had expressed an interest in me." added Wood.

"I was keener to play in Division One, though, so this move is perfect for me."

"There is a good squad at Burnley and I'm surprised that they are struggling in the First Division and I'm sure I will learn a lot of things while I am here."
