Nemanja Vidic has been linked with a shock move to Russia. Surprise speculation suggests that the Serbian centre-back could be the subject of a £25million bid from Anzhi Makhachkala of the Russian Premier League.
Russian billionaire Suleyman Kerimov has invested significant sums of money into the club during 2011 and rumours suggest that he may bankroll a £25million bid for United defender Vidic.
Anzhi have already splashed out £18million on Samuel Eto’o, whilst Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos is the club’s captain.
Vidic may face a battle for first-team football with the Red Devils this season.
The emergence of promising centre-backs Phil Jones and Chris Smalling looks set to challenge the formidable partnership that Vidic and Rio Ferdinand have forged at the heart of United’s backline.
Serbian star Vidic has previously been linked with comments criticising the city of Manchester – meaning the defender is often linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
Juventus and Real Madrid are both said to be interested in adding Vidic to their star-studded ranks.
