Manchester United face a trip to Elland Road in the third round of the League Cup to face bitter rivals Leeds. The tie is the headline-grabbing match of the round following Saturday afternoon’s draw, which also paired holders Birmingham with ManchesterCity.
The Red Devils will be hoping to gain revenge against Leedsfor the shock F.A Cup defeat in January 2010.
Jermaine Beckford’s excellent strike handed the League One Yorkshiremen a shock 1-0 win at Old Trafford in the third round of the competition.
Leeds, now in the Championship, will be hoping to emulate those heroics in the Carling-sponsored League Cup.
Sir Alex Ferguson will be expected to rotate his squad around for the game, but will also be under-pressure to lead his side to victory against one of the club’s biggest rivals.
Leeds have reached this stage of the competition with wins against Yorkshire rivals Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers.
They sit 19th in the Championship following a 2-1 defeat atIpswichTown on Saturday afternoon.
