Ross County to Appeal, for what?

Ross County look set to appeal after the sending off of Steven McGarry, late in to Saturdays game.

With Nine minutes left to go a tussle between Neil McGowan and Ross Countys Steven Mcgarry resulted in McGarry being given a straight red card.
Before the red card was produced the Referee Steven Conroy had already blown for a foul. It was after the whistle had been blown that McGarry had fired his elbow in to Neil McGowans face leaving Conroy with no choice but to send him off.
Steven Conroy had been brought in to this game because Ian Fyfe was unable to take the fixture.
According the the SFA site we should have Steven Conroy for this Sat fixture Vs. St Mirren. The Stomp has already been told that he will not be the referee due to the SFA's own rules forbidding a referee from taking the same team twice in a one week period.
So did Steven Conroy make the correct decision and should Steven Mcgarry have his punishment increased should the appeal fail?
