A.S Airdrie took on Red star in a friendly match as preparation for the forthcoming season..........................................

Red Star 3-1 A.S Airdrie

The Allstars lined up in this friendly match as preparation for the upcoming season against the well established Red star( a very different team to the one I played against moons ago) first half highlights were !!!! well I wasn’t there but apparently Buckles had a few good chances to score before Red star took a two goal lead. After the break the boys showed some good stuff with Red star limited to the counter attack, However they still managed to find the net for a third time from a corner. The Allstars never gave up and after some inspired substitutions from the co- gaffer they got back into the game, Cakes on at left Mid won a tackle 30 yards out , some nice play led to a good shot from Gordy from the edge of the box, the keeper unable to hold spilled the ball and after a few fresh air swipes the ball landed to CEEFAXIO( who had nicked my no 9 shirt!!) he unleashed a superb shot from 8 yards which struck the bar before stevie ( sammy conn) headed home from close in to score on his debut. There was a few other chances in the dying minutes but it was not to be , a great test in the end for the Allstars and things are looking good for the new season, we wont come up against any better opposition than this and with the star striker back in the line up things look bright for the mini Diamonds!!
