AS Airdrie 4-0 Kilmarnock Amateurs
Airdrie moved in to the third round draw of the Fosters Scottish Amateur Cup on Saturday with a well deserved win over there Ayshire opponents, One change from last weeks first round win saw Capaldi replace Brady.
The opening exchanges were quite cautious as both sides looked to work each other out but it Was Airdrie who started to gain the upper hand, Cooper went close after a series of corners heading just over the bar. The home side took the lead on 15 minutes as a neat through ball from Lindsay found Adams who took two controlled touches before sliding the ball under the keeper for a 1-0 lead. Airdrie should have had a spot kick 5 minutes later as Ross Graham's long throw was flicked on by Cooper, Adams collected the second ball before being barged over but the ref waved away the claims. Gray went close on 35 minutes as he curled an effort just past the post in a crowded area. Just before the break Airdrie got the 2nd goal Lindsay clipping a great pass over the top for Shaw to run onto, he rounded the keeper before knocking the ball into the back of the net.
Half Time 2-0
5 Minutes after the restart the home side edged further in front, Shaw picking the ball up on the left fed Lindsay who surged acorss the 18 yard line and back heeled the ball attempting to find Edgar's run, however the ball fell kindly for Gray who slotted in from close range. Shaw almost got his second as heplayed a nice 1-2 with Adams the keeper touched his netbound drive over the bar. The fourth came after a corner was only half cleared and Cooper chipped the ball back into the danger area for Lindsay to latch onto he took it to the line before delivering for Adams to pounce on a static defence to claim his second of the match. Neil Pardoe came closest to adding to the score when the keeper touched his effort over the bar.
A great win in our first home game at the stadium and we're in the draw for the next round. West of Scotland cup action up next as we travel to Ayrshire this time to face Tarbolton in a second round tie.
