PETERSON PARK 3 AS AIRDRIE 7

airdrie moved into 4th place with a ragged performance against the team at the bottom of the table.in truth the scoreline could have been 10-8 as the home team had quite a few chances and airdrie had 3 or 4 good opportunities to add to their tally.

2 changes to the side that lost in the cup saw hendrie and clark in for the holidaying edgar and capaldi

the home team started better but airdrie took the lead after 15 minutes.as gray burst inside the box with only the keeper to beat he lost his composure and the chance looked lost but the clearance fell to kenny who,s cross from the left found smith for a back post header that made it 1-0.the home team kept getting opportunities and rowan had to look sharp on a few occassions.however airdrie went 2 up after 25 when a long ball from stewart was headered on to pardoe from clark and neil curled a lovely finish into the far corner.after 30 it was 3-0 as clark fired the ball from 30 yards over the stand in keeper.the fourth quickly followed as kenny burst into the box and his shot from an acute angle slipped under the keeper at his near,s post.but just like a few times this year airdrie went to sleep and peterson pulled a goal back with a header at the back post.5 minutes from half time clark scored his second with a great left foot volley from 18 yards then the goal of the game in the 45th minute when big gogs fired a pile driver into the roof of the net from 30 yards.half time 6-1

the second half saw a quiet start with few chances but after the hour it was 7-1.a break down the right from stewart saw his cut back miss completely by kenny but the ball ran to gray who had an easy finish from 6 yards.airdrie had a golden opportunity to make it 8 when kaz was brought down inside the box and a penalty was awarded.the right back got an undeserved red card but burton, who claimed the penalty, struck his attempt by the post.airdrie then were reduced to 10 men when gray got a straight red for dissent toward an opposing player despite attempts to get him to keep quiet.to be fair the opposing player should have got a red as well as he responded in the same manner.the last 20 minutes saw a very poor display as too many players switched off at 7-1 and peterson scored 2 goals one of which was a tremendous drive into the top corner then a header at the back post.final score 7-3

three more away points,7 scored with 6 different scorers and 3 goals that would be in contention for goal of the season.that was the good points.a poor second half display especially saw airdrie struggle to get going although the cause wasn,t helped with gray,s sending off.at 7-1 at this level it is too easy for guys to switch off and stop working but that was what happened and as a result peterson had a good number of chances.however the job got done despite this and we move on to the next game.credit to peterson who had a couple of good players and they kept going and we wish them all the best for their campaign in division 2
