A massive crowd of 1821 turned out to watch a strong Morton side put an end to East Fife's unbeaten league run at Cappilow. The Greenock team were 2-0 up at half time with Ross Graham's strike after the interval making the final score 2-1... After Graham's goal, East Fife turned on the pressure, with Kenny Deucher and Paul Mortimer going close.

In injury time, Morton keeper Craig Coyle denied an East Fife equaliser saving a Kenny Deuchar header.
