Ground Hopper's 6th ground review out of 13 in the review of grounds from Holland. The 6th is one of Holland's finest teams which is Feyenoord.
| De Kuip |
| Feyenoord |
|
| Home since its completion in 1937 to
Rotterdam's Feyenoord team. The impetus for its construction came from
the successes of Feyenoord in the 1930's and the popularity of the
national team during the "Lotsij Era". The new stadium was
'christened' by a friendly match between Feyenoord and Beerschot at its
opening on March 22, 1937. People see a parallel with Ajax moving into
their new Arena under Louis van Gaal. During the Euro 2000 championship
the following games were played : Portugal - Germany, Spain - Norway,
Denmark - Holland, the Holland (the winner of Group D) against
Yugoslavia ( runner-up from Group C) and the icing on the cake was
the Final on July 2 2000. |
