"The Shire" website publisher bumped into East Stirlingshire director Charles McLaughlin yesterday and got a brief insight into how much time is devoted by directors of clubs like the Shire. 

"My Shire commitments are usually squeezed into my spare time because I still work full time with the City of Edinburgh Council. I took a day's annual leave to represent the club at the SPFL AGM at Hampden then on Tuesday evening I was in Falkirk to meet Harry Bell, one of our shirt sponsors who is over from the United States for the next three games. On Wednesday evening there was a board meeting but today I'm having a day off! Tomorrow will be taken up with some more Shire work, then it’s off to Methil on Saturday.”

It is worth noting that Charles McLaughlin is a non-driver so all his travel is undertaken by public transport thanks, as he puts it, “to the Scottish Government giving me an old codgers bus pass!”  

We're not sure if fans sometimes appreciate just how much time the directors of Scotland's smaller clubs dedicate to their teams.  Well done Charles, and to all your hard-working colleagues too.
