East Stirlingshire lost 3-0 this afternoon to promotion-chasing Elgin City, who are now in third place. It was Shire's fourth defeat in the last seven matches by the same score.      

Elgin took a ninth minute lead when a wayward pass from Ross Gilmour fell nicely for midfielder Brian Cameron and eighteen minutes later Dylan Easton extended their lead to two with a well-worked goal following a cross from Thomas Reilly. In the second half Shire came back into the match and were worthy of a goal but in the seventy-fifth minute Elgin's Cameron scored a second, against the run of play, with a twenty-five yard drive through a crowded penalty box to complete the scoring.  

In the Angus derby in Arbroath, the home side and Montrose played out a goal-less draw resulting in the gap at the bottom increasing to eight points. After the first leg of the Highland League v Lowland League play-off it is advantage Edinburgh City, who take a 3-0 lead into the second leg next Saturday at Meadowbank Stadium.
