There is some conjecture in various forums as to how the Shire players and management team will approach this Saturday’s match v Annan and the final two league matches.

Some have argued that to a certain extent the pressure is now off - at least for these three remaining fixtures. Others contend that the three league matches give East Stirlingshire the opportunity to practice playing in the manner they will adopt when faced with either Edinburgh City or Cove Rangers in the pyramid play-off – and thus each of the three matches remains vitally important.

One thing is certain. After a perplexing run of poor results, the Shire team needs to use these matches to build up its confidence because whichever of these ambitious clubs emerges victorious from the Lowland v Highland play-off they will have a strong belief, based on a successful season, that they can turn the prospect of becoming an SPFL club into a reality.
