Gap Remains at Eight Points

Last Saturday’s 4-2 home defeat by Clyde, together wth second bottom Arbroath’s 2-1 loss to Queen's at Hampden, means East Stirlingshire remain eight points behind the Angus club, with just six fixtures remaining. Arbroath’s vastly superior goal difference means the gap is effectively nine points.  

Shire took an early lead against Clyde through Thomas Orr but Jordan Cairnie's headed own goal levelled matters for the Bully Wee after just seven minutes.

Scott McLaughlin nodded Clyde in front in the fortieth minute and Sean Higgins struck a third for the visitors after seventy-one minutes.

East Stirlingshire's chances of taking something from the match increased when Clyde’s David March was dismissed with ten minutes to go and home optimism grew when Kris Faulds netted from twenty yards out to make it 3-2. A last minute goal by Sean Higgins, his second, secured the points for Clyde and left Shire eight points from pyramid play-off safety.
