Town target and former loanee Jay Tabb has been released by relegated Premier League side Reading adding to speculation he is set to sign a deal at Portman Road.
The 29 year old former Republic of Ireland under-21 international midfielder joined Town in the first week of March, at first on a months loan. After impressing Town boss Mick McCarthy the loan was extended until the end of the season and the player went on to be involved in nine games for the club, scoring a single goal.
Speaking earlier in the week over the prospects of signing for Town, the former Coventry man said: “I thought it was going to be a done deal but kind of hit a couple of little snags, but nothing too major. I'm not a greedy person and it’s not about getting paid lots of money, but at the same time you have to make sure everything is sorted out in the right way.
"I know Mick really wants me and I really want to be there, so hopefully we can come to an agreement and get it sorted out. I had a good time there at the end of the season and I think they are going to do really well next year. Mick is a class manager and I think he's the right man to take them forward so I'd like to be there."
