Town boss Mick McCarthy's thoughts on his sides 2-0 defeat to Burnely on the last day of the season in the Npower League Championship.

Speaking after the game, the former Republic of Ireland boss had praise for Town's youngeters: “I thought Tyrone (Mings) was excellent and I was really pleased with him and Jack (Marriott) did very well when he came on. He had a terrific shot and a header at goal as well and it was good to see one of the Academy players in the first-team. 

"I hope the fans understand why I changed the team around, I wanted to have a look at a few different things after achieving our objective last week. I thought we were the better side in the first-half but it was a wonder strike, with a bit of a deflection that changed the course of the game.

“We wanted to finish the season with a win and we certainly deserved something from the game but if I’m honest, I’m not too bothered about the result because we set out to stay up and we’ve done that and I congratulated every player on that achievement after the game.”
