McCall and Dempster

Former Bradford City Manager Stewart McCall was confirmed as the new Motherwell manager this afternoon.

McCall was finally appointed 12 days after his first interview, making the new manager believed he had missed his chance. But with Ricky Sbragia and Neil McDonald having pulled out the way was left over for the former Ranger.

He has been quick to get on board, yesterday he took in Saturday’s opponents, Hamilton, game with Aberdeen before watching his new charges in action at Celtic Park.

This morning he took the players for a training session before being confirmed as Craig Brown’s replacement this afternoon.

He has yet to appoint his assistant, although he has been linked with Tommy Craig and Stuart Balmer, although I am led to believe there is a longer list of names under consideration.

It is not the type of appointment that will have the Motherwell fan’s pulses racing but he does tick the boxes that John Boyle set out. He has previous experience of management, experience in England and a long list of contacts in England.

I am sure the Well fans will get behind him and wish him every success in his new role, as ultimately this will see the club we support being successful.
