Saturday's game with Killie off.

snowy weather

The SPL made the early decision to cancel all this weekend’s matches due to weather, including our game with Killie on Saturday.

The decision must have come as a blow to the club given it is the second weekend in a row we will have no game, ahead of two away games on the spin. Who knows how much this will impact the club through lost revenue?

Have the SPL been right in making the decision this early? They are trying to help the fans by telling us as early as possible that games are off.

But it makes a bit of a mockery of their own regulations which states that clubs should have adequate pitch protection. Even when they do they end up with playable pitches but because of roads etc the game is off.

These are the same roads that people will have used all week to go to work in and around Fir Park. Peter Vardy isn’t closed, Taggarts isn’t closed, the shops in Manse Rd aren’t closed!

The SPL has also said they didn’t want Killie fans crossing the Fenwick Moors, a route that hasn’t been used since the M77 was extended. In fact the Killie fans could travel up the M77 and then use the M8.

Maybe it is time we had a real look at when we hold our season, given the snow earlier this year. I would suggest it is time to move to a season that runs from March to the end of October.
