Three Motherwell players were on International duty last night.
Stephen Craigan skippered Northern Ireland in his 49th Cap in a friendly with Montenegro last night. The game ended in a 2-0 defeat as the Irish prepare for their first European qualifier next month.
The game with Slovenia on 3rd Sept cold well be Stephen's 50th appearance for his country, making him the first Motherwell player to reach that milestone while at the club.
Stephen won two of his caps while at Partick Thistle therefore he is our most capped player with 47 caps, and could yet win 50 in his time at Motherwell.
The other two in action last night were Under 21 players Jamie Murphy and Steven Saunders. Murphy picked up his 8th cap at this level in the friendly with Sweden, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Thankfully from a Motherwell perspective he was only given 45 minutes.
Saunders made his debut at this level when he came on as a 64th minute sub for Shinnie. Hopefully this will give the defender even more confidence ahead of the new season when he could well be a first team regualr this season.
