Motherwell won their first game under the charge of Criag Brown with three second half goals against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Craig Brown's first team selection saw the return of John Sutton, Keith Lasley and Giles Coke with Steven Saunders, Steven Jennings and Jamie Murphy dropping on to the bench.
The first half was a fairly even affair with Motherwell making the best chances in the opening 90 minutes. As early as the 14th minute Lukas Jutkiewicz latched on to poor defending by Jamie Hammill to fire a low shot past the left hand post.
Killie responded when Bryson was sent clear by Burchill but John Ruddy stood up well to block. The play switched back to the other end and Jutkiewicz came close again, this time forcing Bell to turn the ball round the post.
The goals all finally arrived in the second half, the first ten minutes in, Jutkiewicz played a nice ball to Forbes who played in Jim O'Brien to fire an angled drive low across Bell.
It was two on 70 minutes with a move that went from our own penalty box, before Chris Humphrey released Giles Coke to send in a driven low cross for O'Brien to slide in for his second of the day.
The third came with 12 minutes left when Jutkiewicz finally got the goal his performance deserved when his low left foot shot beat Bell and nestled in the bottom corner.
This was a massive win for the Well as it moved them back into the top six and ended a run of five consecutive defeats.
There were excellent performances from Lasley, Coke, Jutkiewicz and the central defensive pairing of Craigan and Reynolds.
