Motherwell conceded six goals in a game for the first time in three years as they slumped to a humiliating defeat at Ibrox this afternoon. Despite everyone know that a good start was important Motherwell found themselves a goal down after only five minutes when Kenny Miller fired an 18 yard shot in off the cross bar.
Saunders cleared two efforts from Boyd off the line as it looked as though Rangers would overrun the visitors even at this early stage.
But an injury to Kevin Thomson allowed Well to re-group and the closed the first half with some element of control in their game but with no real threat on goal.
The second half started badly, even worse than the first in fact when they lost two goals in less than fifteen minutes.
The goals were poorly defended with Boyd scoring from close range and then a long ball picking out Miller to cash in on Ruddy hesitancy.
Even a consolation header from Shaun Hutchinson couldn't breathe life into the Well performance as three more goals were shipped in the closing fifteen minutes.
Lafferty got two of the easiest goals he will ever score after coming on as a sub and Beasley was gifted a chance after sloppy defending by Reynolds.
This is the last of a run of four games against the top four that didn't go too well and puts pressure on the side to turn round the run of poor results when the take on St. Johnstone next week.
