Is Jutkiewicz the real deal

Lukas Jutkiewicz

Jutkiewicz scored the winner at Fir Park yesterday but the jury seems to be out on the big striker for the Motherwell fans.

The big man came north with a big reputation given that he had already moved from Swindon to Everton for £1m a couple of seasons ago, and had played for Poland at Under 21 level.

But his early performances didn't fill anyone with enthusiasm as he continually gave the ball away, missed chances in front of goal and generally looked a fish out of water.

Then yesterday he score the winner against Falkirk and the talk immediately is can we keep him beyond January and now he has broken his duck how many more will he get this season?

The manager, Jim Gannon, seems to think he wasn't as sharp as he should've been when he came to Motherwell when he said after the game yesterday,

"I was surprised at his level of fitness, he hasn't been injured but more he has been underused. We were surprised how much work we have jhad to do with him, and he has been a bit unfortunate that he has had to play wide of a three which isn't his strength.

"Before we could make a judgement on him I thought we had to play him through the middle as a two to see how he got on. He can use his strength and mobility a bit more and played his best game for the club today."

The player himself seems to appreciate getting some regualr playing time when he added, "

It is a massive thing for me, when I first came here I knew I would be here for a few months but it has been really easy to settle in and it is one of the best dressing rooms I have ever been in as all the lads get on so well."

He wouldn't be drawn on his future, "At the minute my deal runs out in January, but if I keep progressing it is not a decision for me but for the two teams. I am happy playing football and I will let the politics take care of itself."
