The SFA announced today that Motherwell will take up the Fair Play place in the Europa League - is this something to get excited about?

I am not so sure it is something to get excited about, over the last few years many Well fans have turned their nose up at the prospect of playing in the Inter Toto Cup when in real terms that is what we have qualified but disguised by a re-brand!

It could also have a negative affect on next season, with the players being restricted to a four week break before going into the first leg which could be their first action of 09/10.

It could also be a financial disaster for the club if they don't get beyond the first two qualifying rounds at least and draw someone with crowd appeal as well as TV appeal.

Many are saying European football could attract players to the club, but they could be out of Europe before the season really starts - not much of an attraction!

Never mine we can still look forward to the draw on 22nd June and then the first leg on 2nd July!
