The draw for the fifth round of the Scottish Cup has seen us paired at home with either Brechin or St. Mirren. Assuming of course we can negotiate our tricky away tie at Inverurie.

The draw was made immediately after the Edinburgh Derby this afternoon, and it saw us drawn at home to Brechin or St. Mirren (they are due to play at Glebe Park on Tuesday) assuming we can beat Inverurie a week on Wednesday.

It is only three years since we last played the Saints in the cup when they smashed us 3-0 at Love St. But you have to go a lot further back to see when they came to Fir Park on Cup duty.

It was back in 1977 when Alex Ferguson was the manager at Love St and they were storming through the First Division. But we won by 2-1 thanks to goals from Vic Davidson and a Willie Pettigrew penalty in front of a crowd of 26709.

We last played Brechin in 1986 and it took us three games to see them off, with the third tie at Tannadice only twenty four hours after the first replay at Glebe Park.

Let's hope we can set up this home tie by seeing off Inverurie....
