The Reds come into the game off the back of draw at home to Wigan, with Charlie Lennon scoring a 96th minute equaliser on his debut for the club. 

However, Barnsley looked slow in possession for most of the game in what was a largely frustrating performance. 

In terms of injury news, head coach Conor Hourihane said the squad will be the same as midweek, with Tawanda Chirewa and Josh Earl expected to return after the international break. 

Ahead of the international break, Barnsley loan goalkeeper Owen Goodman has been called up to the latest senior Canada squad; Jono Bland is in the Wales under 21s squad and Patrick Kelly is in Northern Ireland’s senior squad for their World Cup play-off against Italy next week. 

In terms of Doncaster, they sit 17th in League One having moved up the table since the turn of the new year. 

On Rovers, Hourihane said: “I’m expecting a good game. I like the way Doncaster play. They’ve got some good players and Grant (McCann) likes to play with wingers. 

“I know he’s changed to a back five a couple of times, but I really like the way they play. So, from an attacking output with how we like to play as well, if we can improve, certainly from Tuesday night, it should be a kind of good spectacle. 

“I think they’ve brought in a couple of players to try and make them better. 

“They’ve obviously recruited to become a stronger outfit for the second half of the season. Elliot Lee, obviously, is someone who we all know at the club, and I played with Elliot and he is a really good player. Obviously, there’s Neill Byrne at the back and he played against us for Bradford at the start of the season. 

“They’ve brought in a couple of experienced bodies, and they got a good result on Tuesday night against Bolton, which is not an easy place to go, as we well know. 

“Bolton are a very good side for this level, so they’re coming into this game in a decent place and one that we need to be fully prepared for.” 

Doncaster come into the match unbeaten in three after drawing at Bolton midweek, and their last away win came in February at South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham. 

Rovers have lively winger Luke Molyneux who has eight goals and seven assists this season, and captain Owen Bailey has 12 goals in 37 League One matches. 

They are managed by former Peterborough and Hull boss Grant McCann. 

The Reds beat Doncaster at the Eco-Power Stadium earlier in the season 2-1, with goals from Vimal Yoganathan and Davis Keillor-Dunn. 

Barnsley are also chasing their first double over Rovers since 2008-09. 

The two sides have faced off 78 times over the years, with Barnsley winning 26 and losing 28.
