Stephane Mbia, a target of Everton during the summer has spoke about why he snubbed the English clubs who were chasing his signature to stay in France and play for Marseille, adding that he would like to play in England eventually. Everton were amongst the group of Premiership clubs chasing the 23-year-old Cameroon international midfielder, but the player has opted to stay in Ligue 1 for another couple of seasons and then maybe give it a go with a Premier League club.

"My dream has always been to play in the Premier League one day," Mbia told Sky Sports.
"I told the clubs that were interested in me that moving to Marseille was a step on my progression towards a top league and into a top tournament like the Champions League

"I don't want to go and be a flop in any team, so one or two years at Marseille will help to improve me before I join an English team.

"I told those that were keen to give me a year before I will eventually join them in the future."
