Here we will have a look at how the lads got on in their international ties this weekend. Unfortunately the weekend's international fixtures threw up a disappointing set of results for the six Sunderland players who were representing their countries.

The only SAFC player not to be on the losing side was club captain Lorik Cana, his Albania side played out a 0-0 draw in a friendly with Estonia.

Marton Fulop was on duty with the Hungary side that fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Belgium.

Northern Irish duo George McCartney and David Healy were in friendly action as Nigel Worthington's side lost 1-0 to Serbia.

McCartney, who has struggled with injuries as of late played a full 90 minutes at Windsor Park, whilst striker David Healy entered the action just after the hour mark.

Despite a good performance from Northern Ireland a strike from PSV Eindhoven striker Danko Lazovic was enough to win the game for Serbia.

That result means Northern Ireland have won just twice in their last 20 friendlies.

Paulo Da Silva was also in action for his country this weekend, as Paraguay took on Qatar.

Despite having the home advantage over the Qataris, Paraguay were beaten 2-0 at the Estadio Defensores del Chaco by a Fabio Cesar Montezine brace.

Darren Bent played 54 minutes in England's friendly with Brazil in the middle-east.

The striker, who picked up his fifth cap in the 1-0 defeat, was handed his first England start in almost four years.

Sunderland's top scorer was unlucky throughout the game as Fabio Capello's side struggled in the humid conditions and were out-classed for the majority of the encounter with the five time world champions.

It's hard to believe how Bent is now being written off by the pundits, I don't know how anyone could have done anything with the service both Bent and Rooney were provided with.

Let's hope Darren gets another chance, and is provided with the service he deserves.
