Sunderland native Grant Leadbitter is understood to be in talks with Ipswich Town, where his former boss Roy Keane is looking to bring in some players to bolster his floundering squad.
Leadbitter, 23, who came through the Sunderland Academy has made just two appearances for Sunderland this season and it looks as if his starting opportunities will be limited with the arrival of Lee Cattermole and Lorik Cana.
"We have been given permission to open talks with Ipswich. We're heading for talks now and will see what happens." said Leadbitter's agent.
Ipswich have also been linked with a potential move for Black Cats' winger Carlos Edwards.
Rumour has it that Nyron Nosworthy and Darly Murphy could also be on their way to Portman Road in a 4 player deal.
