Sunderland thrash the Baggies by 4 goals to nil in a game in which we could have quite easily scored 7 or 8. Though the scoreline does flatter the Black Cats a little as West Brom also had their chances but couldn't capitalise on them. Kenwyne Jones, who was having a nightmare of a game, opened the scoring with a great header, and less than two minutes later scored his second of the game.

Teemu Tainio had a cracking game, he was always in the right place at the right time and never gave the ball away, which is why he is my Man of the Match.

The third goal was scored off the head of our little Irishman, Andy Reid, not long before half time.

The Black Cats went into the break leading 3 goals to nil, and perhaps were a little fortunate as West Brom did have their chances as we sat back and gave them a little bit too much room for my, and many of the fans around me in the North Stands liking.

West Brom made a couple of attacking minded substitutions at half time, but this had little to no impact on thegame as Sunderland looked comfortable.

The Baggies had 11 corners to our 1 but couldn't find a way through our defense.

The fourth goal came in the form of a penalty by Djibril Cisse 2 minutes after half time after a handball in the box.

All in all it was an easy win and should boost our confidence going into the hectic Christmas period.
