Wigan Athletic are reported to have made approaches for West Brom stars Nathan Ellington and Zoltan Gera although no deal has yet been finalised. Nathan is reported to be keen on a move back to his former club and Zoltan Gera looks set to make the switch with him. Wigan are keen to strengthen the current squad and it has been rumoured that the Ellington deal could be very close to completion. Jewell has been reported to be keen to tie up the Ellington deal sooner rather than later.

With current form under scrutiny Paul Jewell commented: "We badly need another striker. Emile Heskey needs someone to partner him and Henri Camara is out with a knee injury. We need someone in pretty quickly."Maybe we need to go back to the basics because we are conceding too many goals. We need leaders, because I said all along this was going to be a hard season."

It is also reported that Wigan could be looking at James Beattie, who is said to be unsettled at Everton and maybe looking for a move to boulster his career and play more first team football.

Rumours are currently rife with the January Window just opened but hopefully we can strengthen our squad and tie up dealswith quality players soon.
