PROPOSED TAKEOVER ON VERGE OF COLLAPSE?

Today's 'Independent' newspaper claims that the proposed £64m takeover of Aston Villa Football Club is on the verge of collapse. Although neither party has announced that the deal is dead, it is believed that the Comer brothers have pulled out of the negotiations and are unlikely to pursue their interest in the club.

The 'Independent' states that the Comer Group "regard Ellis' valuation as too high given the location and nature of the property and the price being sought."

However, the newspaper also claims that Michael Neville, the life-long Villa fan who is fronting the Comer Group's bid, "will now try to find fresh investors for his consortium."
