ELLIS HITS OUT AT VILLA PERFORMANCE

Aston Villa chairman Doug Ellis has hit out at the club's shocking performance against Doncaster Rovers in the Carling Cup. Ellis, who has been under intense pressure in recent weeks to sell his stake in the club, claimed he felt 'humiliated, disgusted and embarrassed' by the 3-0 defeat. With Villa sitting desperately close to the relegation zone in the Premiership table, the League Cup was seen as the one competition which could finally bring some silverware back to Villa Park.

However, after putting on a desperate performance in mid-week against League One outfit Doncaster Rovers, many fans believe that now is the time for both the chairman and the manager to leave the club.

Speaking earlier today, Ellis fumed, "I was disgusted by the team's performance. Take nothing away from Doncaster, they are a very good side made up largely of free transfers and one £175,000 player in Sean Thornton, who was the best player on the pitch by a mile.

"But the way we played consequently left me feeling humiliated and embarrassed. I had a lousy journey on the way home. All night I kicked every ball. The supporters are down and understandably, but they are not the only ones feeling as sick as dogs. No-one feels as sick as I do right now.
