ASTON VILLA vs LIVERPOOL - MATCH PREVIEW

November 4 2005

Aston Villa boss David O'Leary will be hoping to mark his 100th game in charge of the club with a much-needed victory over Liverpool. The Villans have won only one of their last seven league games and anything other than a win tomorrow could see them slip into the bottom three. Aston Villa team news: Former Liverpool striker Milan Baros could start against his former club after finally recovering from his long-term achilles injury. Lee Hendrie could also return to the squad after coming through 90 minutes in the reserves' 2-0 win over Everton. However, Patrik Berger will miss out due to a knee injury and Wilfred Bouma and Aaron Hughes remain on the sidelines.

Liverpool team news: Fernando Morientes is doubtful due to a knee injury so Djibril Cisse is expected to partner former Villa striker Peter Crouch in attack. Otherwise, Rafa Benitez is expected to stick with the team who defeated Real Betis in midweek.

History of this fixture: Aston Villa have played Liverpool 168 times with Villa winning 52 of the meetings, Liverpool winning 81 and the remaining 35 ending all square. In last season's corresponding fixture, the two teams fought out a 1-1 draw but at Anfield it was the Reds who came out on top with a 2-1 win. However, it is almost 3 years since The Villans defeated Liverpool in any competition.

Match betting: Aston Villa win - 7/4
Liverpool win - 5/4
Draw - 11/5
