O'LEARY FRUSTRATION OVER BAROS INJURY

Aston Villa boss David O'Leary has confirmed that Milan Baros will not be fit to face Wigan on Saturday and he has hit out at the Czech Republic's decision to play him last week even though the striker was still injured. After missing the last three games for The Villans, Milan Baros was expected to be fit for Saturday's clash against the high-flying Latics but the striker has suffered a recurrence of his achilles injury and could now be out for another two weeks.

Speaking on the matter, O'Leary said, "Baros won't be right for Saturday. The bottom line of it is that he was getting better. The Czechs took him away and he played. Now he's come back to us with the injury worse than when he went.

"You pay the player's wages and he goes over there, is given an injection to mask the pain to get him through the game. You feel great for a short time. We could have done that, which we'll never do, to put him in against Middlesbrough, but you know it's not curing anything. It's making the injury worse.

"Now he's come back to us worse than when he went - a few weeks down the line."

To make the situation worse, Milan Baros is expected to be called upon to represent the Czech Republic in next month's World Cup play-off against Norway, meaning he could miss more games for Villa.

O'Leary added, "I should imagine he might get fit by the play-off and then they'll take him again. The club's might pay all this big money in wages, but we have no say on things like that - end of story."
