Nolberto Solano has joined Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee just 45 minutes before the transfer window will close. James Milner has gone the other way with the England under-21 international signing for The Villans on a one-year loan deal. Nolberto Solano joined Aston Villa from Newcastle for £1.5m just 19 months ago but he today put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal with the Magpies.

Earlier in the day, Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd said that there was 'no way' Solano would rejoin the club because they didn't want to loan out James Milner. However, after a late change of heart, Shepherd approved the deal and the part-exchange deal was pushed through very quickly.

Newcastle fans will be delighted with the reurn of their former hero but Aston Villa fans will undoubtedly feel let down. Only last week David O'Leary made the claim that Solano 'will be going nowhere'.
