BAROS ON VERGE OF VILLA MOVE

The long-running saga concerning the future of Milan Baros could soon be over as the Liverpool striker has admitted that he is on the verge of a move to Villa. Aston Villa have been linked with the Czech international for the whole of the summer but have so far failed to match Liverpool's asking price for the player. Last week it looked as if the move was doomed as Liverpool made it clear that they would accept no less than £7m for Baros and Villa claimed they wouldn't spend any more than £6m.
However, speaking to the press today, Baros commented, "We've come to an agreement on the financial front. But that doesn't mean that it's already a done deal. Villa are a quality club, and I don't consider this a backward step at all. My situation will get better there."

Should Aston Villa sign Milan Baros it will be their fifth major coup of the summer with Phillips, Taylor, Berger and Hughes having joined the Villans earlier in the transfer window.
