As Liverpool Prepared for one of the biggest games in our history tomorrow night Michael Owen out for the game relvealed he could have played for Scotland. Read on Michael Owen has revealed that he could have played for Scotland.

Owen will spearhead England's World Cup campaign in Japan and South Korea this summer.

But he could have been part of Berti Vogts' future plans after disclosing he qualifies to play for Scotland through his father.

"My Dad's side of the family are all Scottish," said Owen on the BBC's Liquid News programme.

"It's one of a couple of teams I could have played for. I could have played for England or Scotland. I chose England."

The 22-year-old Liverpool man, who is currently out of action with a hamstring strain, also disclosed that he is a closet Celtic supporter.

He continued: "I've got a lot of relatives who all support Celtic so I tend to follow them.

"I've played against Celtic. What a fantastic atmosphere. I'd love to go back and play against them again.

"The stadium holds 50 or 60,000 which is probably the best atmosphere I've ever played in.

"The players there are lucky to be playing in front of such a fanatical following and they are producing the goods at the moment."
