Player News

In the past week or so some of Albions players futures have been decided many have signed new contracts with the club or have almost completed a new deal while others have made up their mind to leave. First of all ill start with the bad news. Glenn Kirkwood and Laurie Wilson are likely to leave the club to get first team football. Its a little disappointing as Glenn can play anywhere on the pitch and plays well but isnt getting enough chances to prove himself. Laurie looked like a bright talent but maybe isnt ready for this level yet. Hes another player whos been given hardly any games and its understandable why he wants to go. At that age players need to develop their talent instead of wasting it on the bench.

Nigel Clough has been busy negotiating contracts with players and has secured the signatures of many players. Sam Shilton and Barry Miller are currently negotiating a new contract but look likely to agree a new deal. Barry Miller arrived here not long ago and has looked solid ever since joining the club. Having him in the squad next season will be great news.

Jon Shaw agreed a new deal a while ago and his goalscoring record speaks for itself. He only joined us in November but has scored 12 goals even though he spent half his time here out with injury.

Andy Ducros has signed a new deal with the club. Im not sure what to think about that as he never has an average game. He plays awful some games and outstanding the next. This season he seems to have been mostly awful but still manages to pull some great performances out of nowhere. Ducros is however ecstatic about his new deal. The ex-Coventry player believes that the club have the potential to push for the playoffs next season and is looking forward to moving into the new ground.

Craig Dudley had also signed a new month to month contract with the club after having his best ever season for the Brewers. Nigel Clough doesnt feel that he has done enough over 3 years to justify a 1 year deal but is willing to review the situation if Dudley continues his recent great form into next season.

Pieces of Burtons jigsaw are finally fitting into place. The Brewers could be set for their best season in the conference yet. But surely the play offs are out of reach. Only time will tell.
