After yesterday’s application from THE Rangers to transfer the shares from Rangers in the SPL the other clubs now appear to be in a panic.

As I have mentioned previously we have had weeks of shadow boxing from the SPL clubs as they hoped a CVA would bring Rangers out of administration and there would be no need to decide on a newco.

Last week’s failure of the CVA and the application to the SPL yesterday to transfer Rangers share to the newco means a decision now has to be made when the clubs meet on July 4^th.

St.Mirren and Motherwell have already come out with statements on their position. As you would expect they appear to say a lot without actually saying anything, as they put themselves through the torment of sporting integrity v commercial interest!

Motherwell do plan to consult their fans, but their fans already seem to think the statement put out by the club is preparing them for a yes vote for the newco. It will be interesting to see how things turn out after the fans forum the club plans to hold.

Aberdeen and Dundee Utd fans have already come out clearly against a yes vote from their club, but no news from either of these after yesterday’s application. Steven Thomson at United has already said it is an impossible decision to make, but has hinted he won’t upset his own fans.

The cat is now well and truly amongst the pigeons and the clubs have the power in their hands to make a momentous decision for the future of Scottish football – do they have the courage to make the correct one?
