Hearts boss Paulo Sergio has decided to end his term at Tynecastle as he rejects the new wage offer made by the club, does this make them a club in crisis?

Last night Sergio announced he was to leave Hearts after rejecting a reported 25% wage cut offer by the Club.

There is no doubt this would be a bit of a blow when you have taken the club to a Scottish Cup win only weeks before. I am sure he would have been looking to have been offered at least the same terms as he was currently on.

This has led the Scottish Sun to produce a cracked Hearts crest and the headline “Hearts in Crisis” this morning. All that has happened is they have lost a manager who will be replaced, they are not about to be liquidated as some other club is in danger of doing!

Hearts are suffering the same as every other club in the land where the story is about reduced budgets all round. Almost every club is reported as offering players reduced terms or not offering new deals to players they can’t afford.

Surely therefore the headline should be Scottish Football in crisis.

Back to Hearts and there is a list of former Jambos being lined up to replace Sergio, including John McGlynn from Raith Rovers, Paul Hartley from Alloa or Steven Pressley from Falkirk.

While these guys all have connections with Tynecastle I would suggest Romanov will spring a surprise and produce someone from left field.
