Higdon celebrates

Celtic won at home to Dunfermline to extend their lead at the top of the SPL, while Motherwell saw off Hibs to close within three points of Rangers.

Goals from Mulgrew and Forrest scored for Celtic to keep their amazing run going and keeping them powering towards the League title. The defeat also leaves the Pars stuck at the bottom of the table on goal difference behind Hibs.

TheEdinburghside managed to score three away goals atFirParkbut sadly for them they lost four in a dramatic second half. The win saw Motherwell move to within three points of cash starved Rangers.

Hibs were one up at half time, as they were in the original abandoned fixture, thanks to a goal from Osbourne this time.

Things were to change in the second half, Motherwell were on level terms within two minutes of the re-start through a Michael Higdon penalty when Estonian sensation Ojamaa had been pulled down.

They made it two one thanks when Murphy bundled a Daley cross over the line. But the Hibs were clinging on and forced an equaliser when Doherty capitalised on a poorly defended corner.

But Well opened up a two goal gap, thanks to a Higdon over head kick and another penalty. Motherwell looked to be coasting to a win at this stage but Sproule pulled back to set up a tense final five minutes but they couldn’t get another equaliser.

Motherwell travel toCelticParkon Saturday with a view to improving on recent results there, McCall has lost 4-0 on the two occasions he has taken his side there.
